How does it work?
Simple! You look at the layout of a project
and arrange the supplied components on the breadboard.
Wire it to the breakout box, plug your
guitar in one end and your amp (or pedalboard) in the other. That's really all
there is to it!
Can I get just
board?
Yes, the board alone (no bags of parts, meter, etc)
is available. For pricing, see the Buy
page.
What can I build?Because you get a great selection of
components and dual breadboards, there are
literally hundreds of things you can build.
Distortions, fuzzes, overdrives,
compressors, oscillators and lots more!
What is included? The beavis board includes the breakout box,
two breadboards, a terminal strip for
connecting larger components, battery power
supply plug, DMM, breadboard jumper wires, and a huge selection of great
components (resistors, capacitors,
transistors, chips, diodes, trimmers, LEDs, etc.). The whole shebang
is mounted on a sturdy oak board.
Do I need to buy parts?Nope, I've included the
Parts Stash: a great collection of
parts that covers a huge number of circuits.
No ordering of mystery components needed!
More about the Parts Stash.
Tell me about the documentationThe beavis board comes with the Hacker's
Guide to the Beavis Board, a comprehensive
guide that explains the beavis board,
introduces you to basic stompbox wiring,
standard components such as transistors,
resistors, opamps, etc. and includes 25
great projects.
Do I need to solder?Nope. No solder. I took care of all the
soldering for you in the breakout box.
Will that fit on my pedalboard?I've designed the beavis box to make it easy
to learn about circuits and build a huge
array of projects. And because the breakout
box puts all the input/ouput stuff in a
shielded enclosure, its super easy to take
your creation and move it over to your
pedalboard or try it out easily with other
amps. But it is not a permanent pedal! It is
a canvas upon which you will paint your
stompbox artistry. (I have included a
section in the Hacker's Guide to the Beavis
Board that talks about creating circuits in
permanent stompbox enclosures).
Do I need to know how to read
schematics?Nope! Each of the projects is presented as a
breadboard layout, just grab the right parts
and put them in the right places. Of course,
the ability to read schematics can greatly
expand your universe of circuit options, so
I've included schematics for each of the
projects, and show you how to translate a
schematic into a working project.
Can I get one?Absolutely! Visit the
Buy page.
How do I build my own i/o
breakout box?
Check it. Is Dick
Cheney
really the devil?Yes.
